What do I need to pack for my child?

- a laptop/ipad and charger
- a notebook
- a hat for outdoor play. Please also ensure your child has sunscreen applied before arriving.
- a morning tea snack, packed lunch and drink just as you would pack for their regular school lunch.

Why do I need to bring my own device?

As students will likely be familiar with using their own device, they can continue engaging with the program immediately and long after their experience finishes at Codejoy. You will also be able to see what your child has been able to achieve each day.

What time is drop off and pick up?

The sessions will begin at 9:00am. Drop off is available from 8.30am. Pick up is available from 3:30 - 4:30pm.

Should my child attend all three days?

Yes. The concepts introduced will build from the previous session.

My child has never coded. Is this program suitable?

Yes! Your child will learn basic coding concepts using both online and offline activities and games. He or she will work through the program at their own pace.

Will this still be useful if my child has attended a coding class before?

Yes! Coding concepts can be applied again and again. There will be a number of open ended activities that will extend your child and keep them feeling engaged and challenged, while making plenty of new friends!

Can my kids attend Codejoy's Holiday camp if they have already attended the Holiday camp before?

Yes! Students who have completed the Holiday camp at Codejoy before will be placed in an advanced course, where they will learn new skills and go on a brand new adventure.

What will your child be able to learn?

Your child will learn basic coding concepts, algorithmic thinking and problem solving. They will also learn to storyboard ideas which will develop literacy skills and creativity.

How does this program differ from other coding programs for kids?

Human beings connect and engage with stories and children particularly have an innate love of stories because they teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. By teaching kids the fundamentals of coding through a unique story book adventure that they can follow over the entire four day program, Codejoy camps are one of a kind to teach kids as young as 5 the ability to learn to code while
- making it meaningful and relatable to them as learners
- encouraging active participation
- encouraging the use of imagination and creativity
- enhancing listening skills

Who will look after my child?

We have a team of experienced and dedicated tutors who will facilitate and supervise the workshops. All tutors are fully trained, have a passion for educating, technology and have a current working with children check.
Each group will be lead by an engaging storyteller who will guide students along the adventure as well as a number of teaching assistants who will ensure students get the individual attention they need every step of the way.

Will you provide food or snacks?

Biscuits, Crackers, fruit and water will be provided with the consent of parents. However, we ask that parents pack morning tea, lunch and a drink for their child. We strongly follow this so that kids do not develop any kind of food allergies during their workshop.
